Interview with Michael Leopolt

Many people think British style as the benchmark to follow.
What is the difference between Italian and British style?

Michael Leopolt: First of all both two styles respect and complement each other.
It’s because everything that refers to classic men’s elegance has been created in Savile Row in London: the suit, a necktie, the classic Oxford shoes. Interestingly, the majority of tailors when creating the reputation of this London district were mostly highly talented Jewish craftsmen from Eastern Europe.
Italians have always greatly respected this British men’s clothing craftsmanship. But they added this artistic ”salt & pepper” and this effortless feeling to English attire. So the British suit is more like a military officer’s uniform.

On the other hand Italian suit jackets are softer with less interlining, especially in the shoulder area (btw the most important area of the suit). The trouser legs in an English suit will be longer and wider than in the Italian option.
All these nitty gritty details will be presented in the Good Style Club free video zone.
